CUDDLE + KIND – Ethically Produced Dolls that help feed children in need around the world.

By | Journal | No Comments

It all started with a child wanting to be kind, to help others in need.  One evening, a few years ago, Jen and Derek were watching a documentary about the impact world hunger was having on children around the world, when their son Derek asked how they could help. That day, with their child as their main cheerleader, they decided to do something about it. Fast forward to 6 weeks after they officially launched Cuddle + Kind in September 2015, they had already contributed over 160,000 meals through various organizations. How did they do it? They found a way to create beautiful…

NEW YEAR – Ways to spread more Kindness in 2018

By | Journal

It’s true, I write children’s books, work with kids, I have three kids…it’s all about kids – and I often find myself in search of solitude  (seriously I lock myself in the bathroom sometimes) – to simply be with my own thoughts. Although my work focuses so far mainly on children, I always ask myself the question, how can I be more kind? How can we, as adults share more kindness with each other in our daily lives? It seems like a simple question, but one we often do not think too much about. Kindness may be a simple compliment,…

BOOK READING AND WORKSHOP AT KASPACE

By | Journal

This holiday I participated in KASPACE’s first Ethical Christmas Market in their store where I was selling not only my books but my new onesies for babies, very exciting! And on Saturday December 9th, I hosted my first book reading/workshop at the store.I invited a bunch of little people and their parents to come join me, including my two daughters. For the event I made a colouring page from my book for the kids to colour, they added rhinestones, stickers and glitter glue. They were all so creative with their pictures. It was so much fun for them! I read my…

Little people with the kindest hearts

By | Journal

I have this amazing friend that I’ve known for more then a decade who happens to work at Dr.Roberta Bondar Public School in Vaughan. She wanted my book for the school, to teach her students more about kindness. The junior and senior kindergarten classes had the book read to them and they were asked to write their thoughts about what kindness means to them. I was so happy to receive a few of the drawings from these little people with such big hearts and so much potential, they are the change that could make a better future, their future! It’s a wonderful…

My First Book Reading

By | Journal

From the moment I started writing my book, my goal has always been to read to children in schools, libraries – anywhere!  Basically wherever kids are – I want to be there with them spreading the message of Kindness as far and wide as we possibly can. Literally a day after my book was published and the first copies arrived at my door – I walked into this beautiful store called KASPACE and met Ashley, the owner. She was so sweet and we were casually talking about kids, life and my book came up in conversation. I brought a copy to…

Have you ever been inspired by a dream?

By | Journal

I’m not talking about a dream in life – but an actual dream – while sleeping! This summer I went on a vacation for a few weeks, just a couple of months after my book had been published. A little while into the trip I was getting anxious. I was starting to think about what I needed to do when I got home to connect with people in regards to my book.  One night I woke up in the middle of the night after I had a dream.  My step dad who has passed, visited me in the dream, even…

How do we apply kindness in our daily lives?

By | Journal

For myself I think there are so many little things I can do to implement kindness into my daily life. A very simple way are with the choices of products that I buy. Years ago when I learned about all the animal testing that goes on and the cruelty animals endure for our products, I decided to dig and find products that are made ethically. A lot of people are not aware of what they are buying, and testing on animals is not talked about that much so it can be difficult to navigate the store aisles.  However, I believe that when people become aware, then…

The story of how I started my book

By | Journal

How in the world did I write a book with 3 young children!? That’s the question I get most of the time to be honest… With a baby boy only a month old, and two girls ages 3 and 2, I wasn’t getting much done as any mother knows, there is not so much quiet time – and when you finally get some – you are just plain exhausted!!! But I found the most perfect tool and perfect time to create my new masterpiece…an iPad pro (with the pen) while breastfeeding! Thank goodness for iPads because it made it possible for…
